The week before our Maine trip I got an amazing assignment from the PE at M Le Magazine Du Monde. She asked me to go out and shoot a diary of my week. Anything I wanted. I really had no idea what to shoot, sometimes freedom can be too freeing. I took Clover and went to the woods. What’s new…
She asked me to narrate the images.
“This week I spent a lot of time with my five year old daughter Clover. We went to the forest to explore. It is Autumn here in New England and the leaves are changing colors. It’s a time of transition, a time of vulnerability. The flowers are in their final bloom, before cold of winter arrives. This echoes how I feel about my daughter- she is becoming more and more independent, growing up, changing… it’s beautiful to watch, but also heartbreaking.”
The image pairing and design are beautiful. I didn’t have much to do with either really. I simply sent in a bunch of photos and she sent this in return. The relationship between Clover and the season, her hair and the changing leaves, so temporary. Youth, so temporary. Favorite editorial spread ever.
